Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1
Arusha – Tarangire National Park
You will depart for Tarangire National Park after a briefing in the morning. The park is home to the largest elephant herds in northern Tanzania, with its unending woodland savannah containing the spectacular baobab trees and periodic marshes. In addition to elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, zebras, gnus, and other antelopes and gazelles are common sights. When you get at the park, your guide will open the vehicle’s roof and begin the extended wildlife viewing. Lunch will be served at a picnic location, and you will have the opportunity to explore more of this magnificent and gorgeous park in the afternoon. You’ll check out of the park in the late afternoon and drive to your lodge, which is just outside of Ngorongoro, for a hot shower, dinner, and an overnight stay.
Day 2
Safari in Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, head for the famed Serengeti via Ngorongoro, stopping for game along the way. The Serengeti is a National Park that will provide you with a wide range of wildlife surprises over the course of two days, but the Serengeti terrain itself may be the highlight of today – at least for first-time visitors. The sheer enormity of the plains rolling down in front of you into infinity will take your breath away. Your afternoon game drive here combines the known with the unknown, ensuring that you will be amazed while also posing the question of just what you will see and when. Changing light and a rotating company of animal actors ensure a fresh experience at every turn. Take some memorable shots, but don’t forget to take a deep breath and appreciate nature in all of its unadulterated glory. After a day of incredible wildlife drives, return to your tented camp in the late afternoon for supper and overnight.
Day 3
Final Actions in Serengeti
We’ll depart the Serengeti grasslands today. But first, we’ll go on another morning game drive in the beautiful Central Serengeti, marveling at the animals that live there. Another day of adventure awaits, as well as another opportunity to appreciate the natural world. Because the Seronera River has year-round water flow, there is always something to see. Several game drives may be conducted here, and you may see lions in large prides, hippo, or elephant herds – the latter of which has seen a significant increase in the park’s population. Depending on other attractions, we may visit the Serengeti Visitor Centre, which provides a great overview of the park’s eco-system as well as an opportunity to learn about the history of conservation in this area. After lunch, we go south-east to Ngorongoro Crater and then to the comfort of your lodging for dinner and overnight, in preparation for another spectacular day the next day. The crater of Ngorongoro!
Day 4
Ngorongoro Crater -Arusha/Kilimanjaro Airport
We set out after breakfast at 6 a.m. from our lodging to reach the rim and then descend into the huge crater itself. The Lerai Forest, a classic alpine forest environment with nearly tropical qualities, is on one side. Lions, leopards, elephants, wildebeest, zebra, hyenas, black rhino, buffalo, Thomson’s gazelle, and eland are all found in large numbers in the crater. Hippos can be seen in pools and swampland, and the highland birdlife is vibrant and abundant around the water. Lake Magadi, which covers a portion of the crater floor, is frequently visited by flamingos. Enjoy a 6-7 hour wildlife drive before ascending the crater in the afternoon and returning to Arusha or the airport if you have a flight to catch.
